Road Trip - Flagstaff

BRAND IDENTITY

Flagstaff is the third part of the Road Trip Series. The lettering was influenced by the sort of rough, authentic energy of the city that also feels very much part of the nature it is surrounded by. I started with brush lettering experiments, eventually settling on the low-contrast brush style with sharp terminals. The red orange of the predominant brick structures of the city echoes the color of the surrounding mountains and canyons, and I made it the main color of the logotype. I found the box element also present throughout the buildings, structures, and signage as frames and decorative elements, and I included it to ground the energetic brush strokes of the logotype. The logotype can be applied on the merchandise with black or white background, which makes it flexible and versatile.

THE ROAD TRIP SERIES

The Road Trip Series includes four distinct logotypes for four cities. I created visual systems around three of them - Flagstaff, Santa Fe, and Tulsa, using the distinctive imagery intrinsic to these places in combination with the logotypes. These systems can be used as a cornerstone for a tourism campaign. You can view these by clicking on the logotypes below.
